    Laptop quit
    Shut down computer last night turned it on this morning all the lights come on but no screen I think I hear the cd trying to start but I don't hear the hard drive spinning screen seems to not have any light at all compaq presario v3000

    Could be a screen issue, video card issue etc... did you make changes to the PC at all the night before?

    No shut down the lid went home came back next morning no screen

    Hmmmm... do you have access to hook it up to an external device ie: TV, monitor etc...

    If so and it comes on then you know it's a screen issue, either broke or loose cable!

    Will the svideo output work for that or does it have to be the one that has 15 pins do I have to switch anything on the laptop for either of those jacks to work

    Either or would work if your TV or external device supports it. The 15 pin is called a VGA port. If yo have a PC monitor for a desktop you can hoop it up to that.

    Some laptops have hotkeys that you will have to hit to change the display. For your laptop I believe it is:

    Function key (fn)+ F1, or F2, or F3 or F4 I'm not sure.

    Hooked up a monitor on vga pushed fn and f1-f12 and there was nothing on the screen at all any more things to try
