My lights keep fusing and now if I dare to change the bulb they do the same with a bang whan I turn on the lights

Better post back with more details. Are you sure you are using the right voltage and bulbs for the fixture? What kind of a fixture is it? Did it ever work right.

Thanks for replying it's a 5 yr old house when I first moved in till aprox a yr ago is been fine the thing I have when ghanging like for like bulbe is that some of the fittings are covered in a black powder and worn there are 13 light fitings and half of them are worn to the point that I cannot replace the bulbs could this be the prob... but if it is how is it affecting the cercit there are no bulbs in the worn fittings ? Hope you understood that

Thanks for replying the house isn't that old and this prob has only started a little while ago most of the lighting fittings are a bit worn some of them won't hold bulbs so I don't try to fit them but the ons that do once fitted flash a little then blow

Where are you located, state, country?

The house is not "that old" but "the lighting fittings are a bit worn", can you explain, how old is the home, and what type of fixtures?

What kind or type of lamp (light bulb)?

What do you mean by "my lights keep fusing"?

Any pictures you can provide will help greatly.

I just noticed your reply, and merged the questions. Still please reply to my questions so we can see what we can do for you, I am still a bit confused.

As I said the house is only 5 yrs old... I live in the uk... the fittings are bayonett... and some are screw in bulbs

Sounds as if the voltage is too high, for some reason. I am not sure if common neutrals are typical with UK wiring, as this is a popular cause of lamps burning out too soon.

Is your system a Ring Main or traditional wiring?

If you not sure, or if you are unable to measure the voltage, may be best to have a technician out to troubleshoot the problem.
