2007 Honda Civic EX CEL DTC P0171 (Fuel system too lean)
I have a 2007 Honda Civic EX with an aftermarket cold air intake. CEL comes on with codes for DTC P0171 (fuel system too lean). I just bought the car used, and I am not the one who installed the intake. Honda said they won't do anything because it isn't stock, and they will only troubleshoot it if I install a stock intake and the light continues to come on (I don't have the original, nor do I feel like buying one). I've heard and read various things about how aftermarket intakes can throw off the MAF sensor. But I have also heard that it could just be a bad O2 sensor, dirty MAF sensor, or vacuum leak. The car doesn't seem to be running poorly, and I haven't even made it through a full tank of gas yet to determine my gas mileage. Could it be something with the computer? Any advice? Should I worry that my car is going to die prematurely? Appreciate the help!
