I have tried birth control and that has helped a little bit so its not as heavy or painful,but has never gone away. The pain meds I have taken either don't help or I am alergic to. I have been dealing with this for years.

I'm guessing your regular doctor hasn't been able to help since prescriptions haven't helped? Have you tried finding a specialist?
