Left a job to care for a parent , working seasonal can I file unemployment?
I had to leave my job of 3 1/2 years in may 2010 to care for my parent in another state. Of course I didn't file for unemployment because I left my position. Forward five months , I will start working at home as a seasonal worker, will I be able to file for unemployment when this job ends?

    Hello taylor:

Yes, as long as you are actively looking for, and are available for full time work.

Your work a home, is it a real employee, they withhold taxes and the such, then you are "laid" off in the off season.

OR>> are you a 1099 worker who would not be covered under unemployment

As long as you have the "credits" you should be able to collect unemployment if you are laid off after the season ends provided you are paid a salary and they take the appropriate taxes out of your check and report your earnings properly. If you are a 1099 worker or paid under the table with cash, then you will not be eligible to collect.
