    Menstrual Period and Low Iron
I don't have health insurance, and I haven't seen a doctor in almost 7 years. I am 19 years old, and I have a few problems, but I don't believe they are life-threatening or anything. I have not gotten my period in over 4 months. I know I'm not pregnant, and I am not obese. I do not have depression. I don't take any pills or birth control. My period has always been irragular, but not by oer 4 months. I also went to donate blood, and I was told my iron was too low. I eat a lot of red meats and such, so I don't know why my iron was low. I don't even lose blood! Please help me if you have an explanation...

You are anemic, that is what is meant by your iron being low.

You need to find a clinic in your area who charges very little, like a sliding-fee scale based on your income.

It is very important that you find out what is going on.

Being anemic can cause lack of mensturation along with other more serious illnesses.

Please make an appointment as soon as you can. I understand not having insurance because I don't have any either, but I will still go to the doctor if I know something is wrong.

So, something is wrong and you MUST get it checked out.

J_9 is correct... and there is no excuse to not get medical help... there are clinics all over the country that have sliding scales for those who cannot afford treatment... You've already made the first step by reaching out and asking what to do... You're halfway there... Good Luck and Get well... Mo
