    Tipper,

This post is over a year old. I am going to ask that a new post be opened for you.

Appending to old items like this often causes a new question to be ignored.

First you need a voltage tester to determine which of the black and white wires have line voltage on them, and what is that voltage, 120 or 240 volts.

Then following the instructions for the thermostat you have, connect Line and Load correctly.

Since the white and blacks are spliced together, and you did not tell us the voltage or what it feeds, there is no way for us to be able to tell what is what.

Do you have a voltage meter and the ability/confidence to test live wires?
