Above furnace installed 1 1/2 yrs. Ago - I am finding carbon on baseboards.

I would check your filters. If they have soot on them, the furnace is drawing soot in from elsewhere. You need to figure out where. If not, the soot would have to be leaking out of the heat exchanger. This is a very serious problem, because it means deadly CO is too. Likely the furnace will need replaced.
