    Probation
Ive just been given 3years probation in Wisconsin. Will that be cut in half? I heard there was a new law introduced saying that if your in compliance you will get it reduced by 50%... is that true?

    Hello c:

I would say NO.. Making laws that HELP convicts isn't something they're doing now a days.

However, since it's PROBATION, the judge retains jurisdiction till the end of your case, and HE has the power to end it whenever he chooses. If you've completed all your requirements by the halfway point, I'd send the judge a letter asking him to let you go. Send your letter certified, return receipt requested, and send a copy to the prosecutor.

I'd say wait until at least 2 years before asking for release. And no, there is no automatic 50% reduction law in place that I know of and never has been.

It also depends on just what you were put on probation for that ultimately determines if the Judge will release you early or not. It all comes down to what the Judge says in his conviction paperwork.
