find the area between z=-0.96 and z=-0.36
Using the standard normal distribution I must find the area between z=-0.96 and z=-0.36

I think we would need more information as initially looking at your question I think of things in three dimensions. This could very well be just because that is what I have been dealing with recently. But typically when using Z as a variable, we are dealing with x, y, and z. And it wouldn't be area, but volume. And there's not enough constraints to come up with something other than an infinite volume as you are just dealing with two parallel planes above and parallel to the xy-plane.

    This is a statistics problem.

Look up the probability for a z score of -.96 and the probability for a z score of -.36 in the body of the z table, then merely subtract them.

Aha... see, I thought there was probably something I was missin'. :)
