Ok so I got caught shoplifting at jc penny NV, the merchandise cost $38 and they took me to their secruity room and talked to me and stuff and asked for my ID and told me to wait for a letter in the mail. They asked me a bunch questions and stuff and I was straight out honest about everything. They didn`t call the police that day though. They just told me to wait for the letter in the mail and let me go. What will happen? Also I'm a adult and not us citizen but I have a green card, if I ever apply for a citizenship are they going to deny me? Am I going to go to jail or get deported? I was also planning to move to canada this coming weekend and give up my permanent card in US but I'm worried that they won't accept me upon arrival.

They also gave me a print out of a civil demand notice and police department summons program(they called it the ticket) which I signed and it says I'm being accused of petty theft.

It also says that my case is going to be review by the police department and the city attorney's office for a possible filing of a criminal complaint.
