Computer Freezes but its not ordinary
Hey everyone, my computer freezes sometimes whenever I press the volume button on my keyboard, it also sometimes freezes when I press any other button to open something on the key boat i.e (internet button, E-mail button etc). When the computer freezes however I can move the mouse around but not click anything, if I press alt ctrl del the task manager opens up, if I click something and press alt ctrl del again it will do it but that's it. That may be confusing here I will explain more - I have a internet browser open computer freezes alt ctrl del task manger opens up, I press exit on the internet browser nothing happens I press alt ctrl del again and then the browser closes and everything is frozen again. If I hold down alt ctrl del I can click and exit things. This is very weird and I never heard of this maybe someone here knows what to do. Thanks!

You never mention the type of computer you have, for example:

Type of CPU, type of operating system, how much RAM, how much Hard drive, what type of I/O card you have in the computer.

May be give a short history of the problem, it could be a virus too.

All right I have a e machines computer AMD athlon xp 3200+ 160gb 768MB of ram 256mb is after market 256mb ATI all in wonder video card. I just installed Kaspersky anti virus suit and did a full computer scan and found nothing. Hope that helps you answer my question.

Short history, basically I turned on iTunes and I wanted to lower the volume of my music so I pressed the volume button on my keyboard and the computer froze, I thought it was iTunes but it wasn't I found out it was the buttons. I have had this computer for a couple of years now and this is the first time this has happened.

Try not using the keyboard controls but using the on screen controls. I suspect something is wrong with your keyboard drivers. You might try relaoding them.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Microsoft, sometime after you installed apps or patches, even you uninstalled them, they don't seem to go back to their original state due to some of the DLL were not restore correctly

Sometime, you just can't solve the problem but to re-install the whole O/S.

I suggest also not to use the keyboard's controls, but it reminds me by a problem a faced that when I open a specific folder that has a specific file my systems turns frozen and if I check the CPU usage its 100% " from the performannce tab" when you pres Ctl Alt Dlt ,

And this is due to an enfected file I think a warm that keeps opening the application over and over several times until it used all your processor's capcity.
