Sewage smell from my ejector pump
Hi, I recently renovated my house and added a new ejector pump in my basement since my darinage pipes are below the sewer lines. I have been getting a sewage smell from the pump area and was told by my contractor, that he thinks that NO Vent was insatlled. I'm very upset and don't know if he's telling me the truth. How do I fix this problem, since I have little confidence in my contractor at this time. The pump seems to work OK, except every time it pumps, I get this air/gas flowing back from the sewer and which I think is creating the smell. The contractor is suggesting that I run a new vent and tie it to my toilet vent on the first floor and this will take care of my problem... Please, someone help me here.

    Thank you,

    Terry

Every Sewer Ejector has to have dedicated vent installed. No way around it.

There should be 2 pipes coming out of the top of the Sewer Ejector. How many pipes are there ?

Also, if you are using prefab collection bucket with lid - then lid has to be sealed to the bucket. There are 3 openings in the lid. These openings should be sealed with factory supplied rubber seals.

If you want, post a clear picture of your ejector. That way we can see exactly what we are dealing with.

    Back to you... Milo

Milo is correct, dedicated vent only and make sure of 2 things: the top is well sealed AND get a new plumber!
