    confused about fuses
My electric shower ceased working this morning and I presumed a fuse had blown, as it has in the past. Well, I say it has blown in the past, I really mean a fuse just popped out (of the fuse box) and I needed to pop it back in and all was fine. However, this morning I have tried just pushing the fuse back into place as before but the circuit will still not work (a couple of wall sockets are not working also).
My fuse box is I believe, old. It has 8 fuses, 3 with 2 x red dots, 3 with 2 x white dots, 1 blue with 2 x white dots and one red and white, which has a push in (30) button on it. The shower and wall socket circuit that is out relates to one of the red fuses. I thought I could re-wire it using the correct size of fuse wire.
But I've looked at the fuses, and rather than looking like a ceramic tube with a visible wire that one can see if it has snapped, these fuses all look like big versions of a normal wee plug fuse, so I'm totally confused as to how I can fix this.
Can anyone help? I'm sure it's all really easy if you know how :)
    Thanks in advance,
    Jen

Jenni, best I can offer is that you call in an electrician that is familiar with your equipment ,in your area or country.
