Texas grandma with troublesome vent pipe
Am remodling master bath and found shower sewer vent pipe in most inconvenient place, it must be relocated. Can this vent pipe be vented into attic so I won't have to cut another hole in roof? Also, how long does vent pipe have to be? Toilet and sink both have their own individual sewer vent pipes and are OK where they are. Does anyone have helpful info?

No, you cannot terminate vent pipe in the attic. It has to penetrate roof and continue no less than 12" above the roof.

However, you can bring it to the attic and join it with an other (existing) vent. That way you don't have to cut the roof.

Question: Where did it go before the remodel ?

Hope that helps... Back to you... Milo
