    For most of these you need to remember that something that looks like (1,2) is really saying x=1, y=2. Half the problems you posted can be solved if you just substitute the given value(s) into the given equation.

    For the second half of the questions, remember that the equation for a line looks like:
    y=mx+b
    so if you can move terms around to get it into this form then it is a linear equation.
    For example:
    8b+4c=-2 (assuming b is the independent variable and c is the dependent variable)
    subtract 8b from both sides
    4c=-8b-2
    divide both sides by 4
    c=-2b-0.5
    now this looks like y=mx+b so it is a linear equation.

    I don't really check the high school section, and I don't know how many people do :)
