I made a 1 time payment over the phone to the credit card company with my checking acct. Now many months down the road they have used that same information that I gave them a while back to completely wipe out my checking account saying I owe them the money. Is this legal & how do I fight this? Hopeless in Alabama!!

Was the checking account also with Capital One? Do you owe the money? Did you ask the bank that has the checking account what court order they received to levy your money?

This is a common practice and why most money management always tell you never to pay over the phone or even use checks for many payments ( they still have your checking account info from your paper checks also.

Make sure you close that account and don't let them have the number.

Can I assume you were behind in payments and owed them money
