Is this a nice winter coat for a girl?
I'm trying to buy my girlfriend a winter coat. She's moved to another city where it rains and snows quite a bit. She's a size 18 UK or size 14 American. She's very conscious about what coats she wears as she has loads of "junk in the trunk". I have narrowed down to these two but am not too sure if they would be warm enough. These are the two, any help would be appreciated.

I tried to veiw the link you gave me, but different web sites come up, not the coat. Can you try and copy and paste the pic of the coat?

    I like the second one.

Those two coats look more like fall jackets than winter jackets to me. Do you know what the rating is? Meaning what temperature they're good for?

I really like the top one. I like it because you mentioned that she has junk in the trunk, so I would think her hips are voluptuous as well. Well this coat will help out with that. It has a good bust line as well as a waste line which will be more proportionate.

How do I know this? I too have junk in the trunk. Lol

    Good choice.

Thank you Enigma and Altenweg. How do I tell how warm they are? I'm so rubbish at clothes shopping.

Most coats have a temperature rating. There should be some information on the website where you found them.

Do you know how cold it gets where she is? If it's a place where it snows but doesn't get too cold, then a fall jacket may suffice. Where I am you have to get a jacket rated for -30C or worse, so I'm always conscious of the temperature rating of the coats I get. ;)
