I lived in an apartment for one and a half years. I got a new roommate in the last 6 months of the lease term but he didn't sign the lease. During the last four months of the lease I went out of country and my roommate brought another three roommates with my permission to stay along with him during this last four months. By the time I got back the lease was over and the roommates made a real mess of the house. Though they hired cleaners and got the house cleaned on the last day, the house was not completely cleaned. Now the apartment community fined me $780. We thought of sharing the expenses but now they are not responding to my phone calls. Is there something I can do legally about this.

Small claims court would be the place to go. File against every one of the roomates that won't pay their share of the bill.
