Probation Violation for DUI (but unrelated original offense)
A friend of mine was charged with cruelty to animals (long story), and convicted of 6 months jail time. He served 3 months in jail and was released on probation. Last week, he took his mom's car, drunk, and got into a collision. He was charged with misdemeanors of Hit and Run, driving without a license, and DUI (.089 BAC).

We know this is a probation violation, but the charges are unrelated. What would the likely outcome be? Remaining 3 months in jail, or more time because of the DUI?

The Hit and Run should be more of a scare than the DUI ( depends I guess how they do the crimes in your state)

But I would say it is very possible for the remainder of the jail time. Plus of course license suspended and then possible time, if not probation for the new charges

He never had a license to begin with. How much does that affect the situation, if at all?

    BTW, thanks for the response.
