If I had a car wreck and its my fault:::
I had a recent car wreck on Sept.20th, according to the police I ran a stop sign coming down a hill and ran into incoming traffic where I hit another car. I do not have insurance on my car. The other car do have Insrance. My question is, What do I need to do to get this taken care of? If I can't get my insurance company to renew my isrance that was on my car so the damanges can be paid by them, what is the next step? I have never been in a car wreck when it was my fault but things happen and I just need to know what is the next step that I need to start looking into to get this behind me.

You insurance definitely won't pay for this. Their insurance company should pay for their damages and you will have to repay that. Since you did not have car insurance you are automatically at fault for this. I could be wrong though, what state are you in?

I hit a telephone pole 4 years ago and I didn't have insurance at the time and I had to pay $4000 out of pocket.

    Hello B:

The next, and ONLY, step you need to take, is pay for their damages.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. Driving uninsured - or, a more common question, without a drivers license - does NOT make you "automatically" at fault or responsible. Those are two separate issues.

In this case I'm confused. OP is asking what to do if his company doesn't pay for the damages - but he doesn't have insurance - ? Can OP get insurance in the future? Probably... but he will pay for the privilege.

A lot depends on the State. Most of the time the other car's insurance company will pay and then will sue the OP. In NY (and several other States) the OP's drivers license will be suspended until the damages arising from an uninsured accident are paid.

Tickets, etc. also do not determine who was at fault. Of course, there's no insurance at play here so no company will investigate (other than the other car's insurance).

    Well first

    1. your insurance will not pay for this, even if they give you coverage back, they will not cover any accident that happened when it was lasped.

    2. you owe the money, so you get your check book out and write them a check for all the damages, without insurance, you are the insurance company.

*** expect your drivers license to be suspended until they are paid also.

If they have full coverage, their insurance will pay for their damages and then sue you for all the damages, legal fees and so on. They may ( if you don't write that check) get a judgement and garnish you pay check at work for their damages.

Of course no one is going to pay you anything for your damage, so you have to pay ( again out of your pocket, so get that check book out again) for your car to be fixed.
