Filing tax returns when on temporary relocation
    Hello there,

I (with my family) was on temporary relocation from California to Texas for 15 months from April 2009 to June 2010. When filing 2009 tax returns, do I file as California resident for full year 2009 or as CA resident for first 3 months only (and TX resident for rest of 2009)?

    Thx

If you returned to California, it is clear that your move to Texas was temporary in nature.

That being the case, the tax authorities in California will expect you to file a California tax return as a full-year resident and pay California state income tax on any income earned while in Texas.
