Just found out ex husband got a dui, is using prostitutes, gambles, and might lose his job. Are these grounds for filing for sole custody in IL?
Anything that would make him a danger to the children would provide grounds for limiting or removing custody.
We can't say for sure what a court will do. But a lot depends on what the court will see as the best interests of the child. And that's the governing mandate of Family courts. If you feel his continuing custody is not in the best interests of the child, then bring an action against him.
None of what OP mentioned is grounds for losing or gaining custody. As has been said it's all about what's in the best interest of the child. Lots of people drink and drive, go to prostitutes, gamble - and they have custody and/or visitation.
I have no idea what is and is not public record has to do with anything. It's either a suspicion or a fact.
