What do I tell a friend when they're being bullied? HELP!
My friend who lives in a different state than I is having a problems with bullies. They hit her, harrass her, name call, etc etc. And like anyone else going through this, she is sick of it. She calls me almost daily crying, and just now she told me she wants to commit suicide. I don't know what to say to that, all I can tell her is to tell the authorities or her parents, and she refuses. I went through this, also. I know there's an end, and it doesn't last forever... But when you're in the middle of it, it doesn't seem like it will ever end. So me telling her that one day carma is going to get them, and you'll be so happy in the end. So she won't listen to me, and I don't know what to say. Can anyone please help me?

How old is she? Why do you think she's a target for bullies?

She's 14.. And when we went to school together, I witnessed her being bullied because she isn't the prettiest. She's an easy target for older, prettier girls to feel superior because she doesn't have much self-esteem.

It's not her looks. It's her self esteem. She must tell an adult, someone she trusts to help her.

I've told her to tell her parents, or to tell the police, and she won't. I don't understand why, but she said that her parents would blame her because she gets buliied at every school they send her to and she thinks they will think she's doing something wrong.

Is there another adult -- a friend's mom or an aunt or a teacher -- whom she could tell?

I don't think so. She told me the only people who know are me, her, and the bullies. I asked her if she could tell her parent's, but no. And I don't know of anyone else she could tell.

Will she call a hotline for advice?

I didn't know they made hotlines for these types of things? She tells me everything, I'm the one she vents to. But lately I've been running out of things to say.

There's probably local help too. Here's a web site --
