How does one get a copy of an old deed once held by the former owner to my condo?
It was never released in the state of Hawaii, so we have no clear deed.

I don't understand what you mean when you say it was never released. If the prior owner had the deed recorded then you should be able to go to the county clerk or county register's office and get a copy. If the prior owner's deed was never recorded then you may have a problem. Did you buy a title insurance policy when you bought the condo? If so then the title search would have turned up any issues with the prior deed at the time of the purchase.

Tell us a little more about your situation and we can give you a better answer.
