Bad smell after rain.sewer and plumbing tested,not cause. Gas Co. testd for propane leak,not the cause. Plants have died on that side of house. Soil tested, not cause. Generally wet ground on that side of house. House 16 years old but problem started about 18 months ago. Tile floor cracked but slab was not damaged. Could ground gas be the problem and is there a solution?

Just help us clarify; the tile floor cracked but the slab did not. right? Ceramic tile most frequently cracks when the sub surface moves or cracks. How can you tell the slab has not cracked. Just a thought but should off everything in the house that can use water. Now check your water meter to see if the white triangle pointer is moving. Back to you

Had to re tile the entire bathroom because all the remaining uncracked tile had lifted off the floor . When all tiles were removed the slab was examined and was completely smooth, no cracks at all

We pulled up carpet in adjoining rooms and there was no damage to the slab.

Did you check that water meter yet?

Yes we recently checked the water metet. I have been consulting with a plumber /handiman who is very familiar with this house, and he cannot identify the problem. Has suggested we install a ventilation pipe with a fan to suck out the ground gasses. Would this be a possibility/

If it is you are the first person in history to try it. What ground gases do they think you have? Do you smell any gases?
