Outlet and light switch in two different rooms stopped working
Outlet and light switch in two different rooms stopped working. I have tested both at the wire source and it seems that there is no power going to either. Other light switches and outlets in the same rooms do operate. Any ideas?

Have you confirmed power at the panel feeding this circuit?

I would guess that the 2 outlets and lights are fed off a single feed. There is probably a loose hot or neutral running from 1 of the outlets. Look for a loose screw on a receptacle or loose wire if back fed. Check all of the wire nuts for tightness. Good Luck!

Thanks for your response. The switch (adjustable) that controls the kitchen recessed is one of the issues and the outlet is in the family room. Would a loose contection affect an outlet when there are 3 outlets between the switch and outlet?

Thanks for responding but your reply is a bit vague. I am sure you have power at the panel but can you confirm it is leaving and going out on the black wire after the breaker? Next step, if your confirmed power , is to confirm it reaches the switch coming in, and then does it also confirm leaving the switch.

udotopp" Depends on how it is wired. They could have run a pigtail to the other outlets and it came loose. Without knowing how the power flows it's difficult to diagnose a problem. Go to the last box with power, pull the receptacle and see if it's through wired. One of the receptacles could be wired through a wall switch. Look to see if the connecting brass tab on the hot side is broken off. That's the best I can do at this point.

The box where I am having a problem wit the with also has the on off switch for the disposal in the sink which is working but there is no power to the adjustable switch which controls my recessed lights.
