I lost power to outlets upstairs and in the basement. I finally found the bad outlet where the washing machine was after it arked, I replaced the outlet and power was restored in the basement not upstairs. I replaced the outlets upstairs but still no power to 2 outlets. The circuit breaker didn't trip when I reset them. What could cause power to be restored to some areas and not others?

Upstairs, like bedrooms and bathroom? Bed rooms may have arc fault braekers and bath could have GFCI breakers or outlets. Do any of the dead outlets havd two small rectangular buttons between the two plug points

Sounds like a loose hot or neutral. Make sure all of the wiring is tight. If you used push in wiring, consider going to regular screw type, it's much better. I was recently called to a house with 2 dead outlets. Just pulling 1 outlet out reenergized through the push in. Changed to screw fittings and never had another problem.
