Our house has brick on the front of the house. Area is about 8' x 24'. My wife never liked it from when we bought our house so she wants to see how we can get rid of it. My question is, is it hard to get rid of it? Can I cover it with siding?
We have a door and a window on that wall.

Is it on wood frame or block? Not an easy task to remove. If you have the spacing you could power nail pressure treated sleepers in a vertical fashion and then put Hardie plank over that. If you are considering stone, you will probably need to remove the brick. You need to be very careful smashing away because you don't want to damage the wall behing the brick and the brick is most likely tied to the wall with metal brick ties. In any situation, unless you remove the brick, you will usually have to case out the trim so it doesn't get stuck too far back. It should be about 2-3 inches to the brick face from the brick mold and if you put sleepers and Hardie, you will be moving the siding out almost 2". Have you considered painting the brick a similar color as the rest of the house? Lot easier and cheaper.

I have considered that but I'm afraid it won't come out well. And if I do that and don't like it I'll have to take it all off again. Hmmm not sure what to do. It does sound complicated and I could cause more damage than it's worth. Thanks for your answer.

Very hard DIY job. Brick is heavy and you would beat on the wall or pry against the framing. One last possibility, get hardie in sheets, 4X8 and use heavy duty adhesive to affix it over the brick. I do this over framing to cover bee holes.
