In my area they have employees go to the local police to have it done. Depending on which police department does it, some still use the ink and paper, but most are using the electronic scanning system.

Then no matter where the fingerprints are done, * fingerprints will show if you were ever printed under any other names** Then that name and ID info are sent to the criminal background check ( NCIC)

Same in my area, police department scan and send to the state crime lab and the FBI. Our bus company can actually do the same, not sure why a school bus company has this tech but they do
