What would cause a sewer smell in the house
There does not seem to be a smell outside at the clean out.

We think we are having this issue right now. Blocked gullies, dried up drians in sinks or drains that aren't used drying up are all suggestions I have been given. Drains need water to block sewer gases coming up. We have put a lot of disinfectant down and filled all sinks and bath and let them all out and run a hose down to the sewer for a while each night. Still getting the smell, but I guess time will tell. Let me know how you get on, the gases are a health hazard

Sewer smells in the house can be a dried up trap not used often, a floor drain which is not trapped or it could even be a cracked vent stack. Some folks have used an AAV instead of a trap. They are mechanical and will eventually fail allow sewer gas into the home. Where do you smell it most strong and most often?
