    My ex and comingeled money
Recntly my long-time relationship came to an end. And with the close of the relationship a substantial portion of my money left too. My ex demanded during our tenancy that the monies earned in the household be held in their account. Now while I was the sole earner in the household, I naively agreed to this as I was under the impression we would marry and that our relationship was secure.

After they had an affair the relationship quickly came to an end and they moved out of our house leaving with the money I had trusted to them, in savings, checkings and investment accounts. I have a paper trail showing where the deposited funds came from and am wondering if any of the funds are recoverable.

They total in excess of 30k.

    Thanks

You most certainly need to talk to an attorney,

But my first impression is if you took your money and put it into a joint account, it then became joint money, and if they had a legal right to take the money out ( their name on the account) I am not sure they did anything illegal.

And if the money was in their account? (I know stupid thing to do but oh the mistakes we make when we're in love)

Yes, I was there and lived that event one time in my life, I came home to find all my funiture gone, all our checking accounts cleaned out, the secret money we had in a safety deposit box gone and all of our investments cashed in. It was all gone and no way to even prove a lot of it.

But ( now this was MO and state law varies and it was also 30 years ago) but all I could get was bye bye money.

But this is too important to believe me ( and I am saying I am not sure( or any of our legal experts, who may mean well.)

This really needs an attorney in your state to review. There may be something that could be done.

As Fr Chuck has said, you need to talk with a lawyer.
