If someone is taking a shower you can't even wash your hands in the sink because there's barely any water coming out. It could be the bathroom sink or the kitchen sink. If someone flushes the toilet you loose almost all the water in the shower for a few minutes. I've checked the water valve at the street. It's turned all the way up. What else should I do? It's becoming annoying. Does a water softener tank affect water pressure?

Hello Becca0212, what you are describing is a sign of one of two things:

    1. Undersized pipes
    2. Pipes corroded on the inside preventing full water flow to each plumbing fixture

Also, you could have clogged Aerators and Shower Head with debris. Clean them first to see if that helped...

If you have a pressure regulator and lots of pressure coming to your house from the City, you could increase pressure. Otherwise, the only solution is to repipe your house...

How old is your house ? What kind of plumbing does it have ? (copper, PEX, Galvanized, plastic... )

    Back to you... Milo
