My husband usually does all of the connections but cannot seem to get them to work after disconnecting them for a night of gaming with friends. Now nothing but the TV will come on and I'm not sure what he did wrong

Model of the TV, DirecTV receiver, and DVD/VCR Combo?

Also what cables do you have?

The likely hookup would be the following, but without models, I cannot be certain.

- HDMI out of PS3, in on TV.
- HDMI out of DirecTV, in on TV.
- Composite (Yellow, white, and red RCA cables) out of DVD/VCR combo, in on TV.

Then either use the TV INPUT button on the DirecTV remote to change inputs by tapping the button, then press volume to exit the source list. Or use the original TV remote, and press "SOURCE' then use the arrow buttons and the center button to select the appropriate inputs.
