Our hot water heater is part of our oil burner and I think it might be from that. But we get the smell from the cold & hot water so I'm nt sure. We dropped a water sample off yesterday to get tested but that won't be ready until Tuesday. They said that we may need a more detaild test which could cost up to $300.00. By the way, our heating oil tank is above groung so I know that it's not leaking into the ground.

Are you on city water or a pump? Did this start gradually or happen overnight? Is every fixture affected? Can you furnish us with nore details? Back to you, Tom

Does this` consist of a furnace coil,(see image) or is it something else? Since a furnace coil's a closed system I don't see how oil could get inj through the coil. If you have a different system tell me about it. Cheers, Tom

I don't know if you got my last answer but I don't think we have a coil as you described. The furnace is a Wiel-McClain and it turns on whenever you run hot water. I appreciate your help in this matter. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to call a Well Pump Service or the Furnace Co.

Can you hold off until the water report comes in? I'm no furnace expert, I live in Fl, But I'll attempt to pull a diagram of your furnace.
