    Fathers not on birth certificate? Does he have any rights
    He has been abusive uses drugs and always in troube with police . He and his family are known to social services

    Please pay more attention to posting guidelines. There is a Read First sticky in the Children forum (where this was moved from) that directs questions of a legal nature to this forum.

    A father ALWAYS has rights unless those rights are taken away. Not being listed on the birth certificate does not remove those rights. However, it does force the father to go to court to enforce those rights. At which point you can argue unfitness to limit custody and visitation.

    Courts have often taken the position that if a man was good enough to have sex with then he deserves his rights as a father. We often get people posting here that complain about how abusive the father is or that he's an addict or criminal. None of that seems to have stopped you from having sex with him.
