If DHS is unable to verify your Active Status in SEVIS are you illegal?
I have been reinstated seven months ago and I just got a job offered on campus for a part time . I went to apply for a Social Security number but the Admistration keeps saying that DHS is unbale to verify my Active Status in SEVIS and its been 4 months now. I have even tried to renew my driven license and it has been denied for the same reason. Is that mean that I am consider as an illegal right now? What should I do? Please need your Help. Thank you

If your name is not in the system, it means you are out of status. How long have you been out of school?

I have been in school for a year now but my reinstatement has been approved since February 2, 2010. Since June I have been trying to apply for a social security number and the admistration keep saying that DHS cannot verify my Active Status in SEVIS?
