I have a new viao that I have not even started yet... tried to boot up for the first time (setup) and keeps giving a message "Windows could not complete installation. To install windows on this computer, restart installation"

So I do, and the same message comes up again.

This is brand new with windows pre-installed..

Any help will do

Its new... take it back to the store and get another that does work.

If it is brand new then contacting your retailer is the best first course of action.

I would Take back to the Store as mentioned. If you bought this, and are not near your store(travelling, Millitary). You might be able to reinstall by hitting f10 on startup, My VAIO came with a hidden partition, that will take it back to day one. It may or may not be screwed up.

Or just install it yourself if you have a windows 7 cd... But like the others said, best bet is to take it back to the store, they'll have it working and bob's your uncle.
