I'm entering a beginning je to setup investment balances; I debit the investment account (other assets) - what is the credit account? 2. Soon I will be closing one of the investment accounts and will need to credit the investment account and debit what account? Thanks.

To set it up:
Dr. Investment Account
Cr. Equity/Shareholder's Equity/Capital, whatever you are calling it.

When you sell your investment:
Dr. Cash (assuming you get cash when you sell the investment)
Cr. Investment
