You have a partial blockage in the kitchen sewer line. The blockage causes waste water from the kitchen to back up into the floor drain. The partial blockage then allows the water to slowly drain away leaving the food particles in the floor drain and trap. Snake the kitchen drain. If you can get the snake to go through the floor drain trap you can snake from there.
