Can an obgyn prescribe any kind of medication
I was just wondering if an obgyn can prescribe any kind of medication that's not only having to do with pregnancy. Like lets say I don't know vicadin or an asthma pump aderoll or things like that

What an OB prescribes is dependent entirely upon the patient and the presenting complaints.

Can they prescribe Vicodin? Yes, I hand it out like candy to my patients who are in severe pain after a C-Section for example.

Asthma inhalers? Yes, if that is a presenting problem.

Adderall? Not usually. The diagnosis that Adderall is prescribed for usually comes from a PCP or a psychiatrist.

Now, on the other hand, if there is a pre-existing diagnosis of ADD or ADHD, and there have been meds prescribed in the past, an OB can write a script for a limited number of pills until the patient can get back to the PCP or psychiatrist.
