    Child custody
Okay here goes a question that was put to me. Hope any of you can answer. I already have my answer but want to know if there is anything else that can be done.

There is a cousin who was brought up by the grandmother, but now the mother has custody. Most family members feel there is some sort of abuse going on with the mother and step father and step children.

The grandmother continues to fight for custody and the cousin wants to be with the grandmother.

At the same time there are others in the family that do not believe eighter situation is good place for the child. The mother or grandmother.

Can anybody else in the family challenge for support or there is nothing that can be done. There are family members that would love to have their cousin with them but financially are not secure so really not fit as well.

What to do? Is there anything that can be done?

I would say that it would be best to get the child away from suspected abuse. Is there any way to prove that there is the abuse. If there is, call cas, and get them more involved. If you are interested in trying to get the cousin, you could talk to a lawyer about your options. If you cant, and are still interested, try getting cas involved. Where in canada are you?

Yes any other family member who can prove the abuse or unsafe home, can sue for custody of the children.

The further away the relationship the harder it will be. A aunt often gets custody of children in some cases, a older sister or brother,

But also any ideas of abuse should be reported and reported.

Anyone who wants to can file a motion to have custody. Whether they'll get it is a different story. They don't have to be rich to get custody, they just have to demonstrate that they can provide adequate financial support.
