Hay , I just got my rabbit today she is 3 weeks and 1 day old... Delilah her name is.. and I'm thinking that she will get cold at night... What can I do? I have a hutch next to the back door away from the wind and stuff... I have built the hutch and I'm thinking its too scared to get a drink and food.You know those drinking thingies that you hang to the cage... my rabbit doest like that. I've tried to help it but it just moves fast... is there something wrong with my rabbit? Please respond to this I don't want my rabbit to die... thanks who ever answers this x

Personally, I woudn't keep a rabbit outside even when in a cage with water and food, for reasons listed in the thread, and just in general major safety concerns. For example, we knew someone who kept their guinea pig [I know different animal] outside all year in this situation, and he died due to the cold in the winter, we tried to tell them to bring him inside of course, just because we were concerned, but they wouldn't and he passed away. You should try to consider all the different things that would either help or hurt your rabbit outside. If you are concerned with your rabbit's life, could you add more details to what is going on with her? You should consult her vet. Good luck.

Delilah, as Shazzy has said, at 3 weeks your rabbit is far too young to be away from it's mother. This is probably why your rabbit won't eat or drink.

A rabbit needs to eat in order to live. It's not a starvation thing, it's the way a rabbits digestive system works. If a rabbit doesn't eat every day, a few times a day, it will die.

At this age the rabbit needs to stay warm. Exposure to the elements will surely lead to it's death. It's far too young to regulate it's body temperature. That's why it needs to be with mom and its litter mates.

The best thing would be to take the rabbit back to the irresponsible breeder, insist that the rabbit stay with mom until it's at least 6 weeks of age, and tell the breeder that if she/he tries to sell these bunnies before they're 6 weeks, you will report her to the humane society.

If you can't do that, you must bring bunny inside, make sure he's warm, and hope that he starts eating and drinking. Try some treats, anything to get bunny to eat.

If you can't do this, the outlook isn't good.

Yeah I know but the only reason is for it to be outside is I can't have it inside mum won't let me. And she eats grass and drinks but she still can't teat hard food.)= , I would love to take it beck but my mum will say it will be OK...

Delilah can you convince your mom just to let you keep the bunny inside for a few weeks, maybe a month until it's old enough to at least survive outside at night?
