    Pregnant on the Mirena?
Hi, I've had my Mirena for a year now, I had all the usual settling troubles in the first month or so, an ultrasound confirmed it had moved but was still in an effective position in my uterus, so not to worry! I've had a blissfull few months.. no periods, no side effects, no weight gain, happy days! Now I'm having really strong pregnancy symptoms, ridiculous I thought, I have an IUS - I can't be. So I took a test, negative (phew) but thought I'd better trot off to see my GP. I thought she'd look at me oddly, but she didn't! She said there is no way the Mirena would give me symptoms if I haven't had them before. Now am scheduled for blood works and an US, because she herself knows plenty of women who have had IUS babies. I asked her if it was safe to continue a pregnancy with the IUS and she said that's the beauty of the Mirena, if it's positioned fine, apart from increased risk of miscarriage, the baby would develop normally... Gosh, how confusing...

Hope it turns out how you would like it to! I know some GPs and midwives will elect to remove the IUD if it is easy to do so simply to decrease the chance of miscarriage even more and the possibility of preterm birth.

Others will leave it in place until a bit further into the pregnancy and some leave it for the duration if they feel it is better to do so. Comes down to a judgement call on their part.

Thank you.. Although I have to say I have no idea what I'm going to do about it. The stories on this thing are confusing and I'm quite disappointed because I was quite happy with it! Oh well... Must be super fertile I guess! :)
