We recently gutted a house and we hired a licensed plumber to
Install all new plumbing. Now when we turn the hot water on in the tub, it is only lukewarm . The rest of the house has hot water coming through. What could be causing this? The plumber says it could be "clogged up" from something coming in from the main water line? I have never heard of that. Have you heard if that before with brand new plumbing?

Is this a tub only or tub and shower fuacet?

Please tell us the brand and the model number of your tub faucet, Thanks.

Yup! More info. On the brand valve in question.

I'm betting that there is a temperature limiting screw/device under the valve handle... can adjust this. Most shower valves have them nowadays...

    Let us know more... OK?

I would not worry or bother doing any fix yourself. You hired a licensed plumber and its his responsibility to complete the installation to code and your satisfaction, let him do it. It is likely that a small part of junk is clogging the hot inlet but still, the plumber should know how to handle this simple fix.

Well it turned out that the licensed plumber put the faucet handle on incorrectly.
After he said it was probably "clogged" he later found out that he made a mistake!
    Imagine that?

    Thanks for the update... :)

    FYI:

By code, in all states that I know of, that shower valve should be set to a maximum temperature of 115 F. The temperature limiting device should be easy to access and adjust. The plumber should have a thermometer on his truck.

The plumbing inspector should have checked this..

If you have small children this temperature adjustment/setting is absolutely critical!

    Good luck!
