Will a ford 2.5l Duratec fit in my 2001 Merc Cougar 2.0l Engine bay?
I an engine that runs off a salvage yard it came off a 1999 mercury cougar it is a 2.5l v6 duratec, and my current car has the 4cyl 2.0l same car just different engine right? Just wondering cause I really want that engine and tranny in my car. The only thing I need to go back and get is the beefy alternator that came on the v6 models, this is what I got from the 1999 : rims/tires, suspension system. Rear axile and front, interior moldings, engine mounts, engine, and tranny, seats. What do I need to do to make this work I have 11,000 dollars worth of my father in-laws tools at my disposal and a chiltons manual for the 1999-2002 years of Mercury Cougar

Fitting the engine and transmission is only part of the battle. The other part is getting an electrical system (PCM, wiring harness, etc.) that it will work with.

... plus changes to the weight forward (suspension needs), plumbing for fuel and exhaust, radiator and transmission/oil coolers, etc...

Much to consider before possibly permanently diabling your car.

You true true cause I have seen the 2.5l v6 swap to a 3.0 v6 from a ford escape into a cougar and it ran fine
