My 5 month old puppy got the Parvo virus, how long does it take to recover?
He was diagnosed with Parvo last Friday and we did the in home care treatment with fluids, but he wasn't getting better and decided to leave him at the vets. He's been there for 2 days now and still not eating or drinking, a little vomiting and diahrrea. Want to bring him home because he should be with us, but it got harder to give him the fluids... Losing hope, wondering if it takes this long, if it's going to make it, if it's better for him to be home or at the vets... Any advice?

He is better off at the vets, sorry, but it is a waiting game with parvo and puppies.

Tick is right. I have seen dogs make a turn around ina few weeks, but I have seen dogs that have taken up to a month for a full recovery. At the moment, the best place for your pup is at the vets where is is getting constant supervision and care.

Sorry to hear about your pup, I hope people will see how important it is to keep their dogs up to date on vaccines, especially when it comes to Parvo and puppies.

Thanks for your answers.. I called the vet this morning and they said he is doing better, the vomiting and diahrrea have stopped but he is still refusing to eat, so I can bring home today and try to feed him; I'm hoping he''ll want to eat at home, I know my other 2 dogs get deppressed sometimes when we are gone for a long time and they don't touch their food until we come back, so I'm hoping Butters does too... I'm so happy he is doing better... Thank you Jesus!!

How old are your 2 other dogs and are they up to date on their vaccinations?

Having other pets at home could be an issue as Parvo is extremely contagious.

Yes, its easy to forget to ask that question; parvo is such a prevalent disease amongst our pet population now, that I just think everyone should know that having other dogs on the house with suspected, or diagnosed parvo is a terrible thread to their well being. But, remember too, older dogs with well established immune system are unlikely to get it, but still everything has to be washed down and all fecal matter removed from the yard.
