The one dog started to poo in his sleeping area... then the other 2 started to poo in the house. Nothing new with family or home. Busy family.. could it be lack of attention?

It could be!
Dogs do strange things when the routine changes. Nothing physically changed in your house, but your family becoming busy is definitely a change.
You might want to consider crating if you haven't already. Clean their room up real good. Use a cleaner with enzyme in it such as Nature's Miracle and scrub it real good to get the scent out. Dogs are funny like that, if one dog potties, they all start to. If you can crate the ring leader, it should stop.
Also, maybe they're being cooped up too long. Maybe investing in a doggy door will help them out.
Yes I agree it could be lack of attention, it could be spearation anxiety as well. Are you able to spend more time with them?
Make sure you are using an enzyme cleaner or a vinegar and water solution to clean the mess. Any odor left in the house, and the other dogs are going to want to mark their territory as well.
