Of the 148.8 million parents in the US, how many have been convicted of child abuse? How many have been wrongly convicted? I fall in that category because my mentally ill adopted daughter keeps accusing me although there is no proof but social services are at my door at least once or twice a year. After nine years of this, it's getting old and affecting our family, especially her siblings whom I also adopted. What are my rights?

You have been wrongly convicted? We need more details in order to give you worthwhile advice.

I am not aware that any State keeps a list of convictions and a list of "wrongful convictions." If the State believed it was wrongful, the person would not be found guilty in the first place.

Also - this is a legal question, not a question about raising children. I have asked that it be moved.

Do the statistics really matter here?

How old is your daughter? Why haven't you you gotten social services to understand the concept of crying wolf. I assume you have records of the complaints being dismissed previously?

Your rights are listed in the Constitution and going over every one wouldn't help you. At this step in the process (and I have no idea which actual step you're in - IF you're in any), you have the right to be SILENT. You are NOT obligated to help the state convict you of child abuse...

However, since it appears that no charges have been filed, and you're just asking for general information, you're going to have to decide whether explaining your situation with your daughter to the authorities is going to HELP clarify the situation, or get you in deeper trouble. Not knowing the circumstances, I would have no way of giving you the proper advice.
