    Converting 240V thermostat to programmable
Recently purchased a low-voltage programmable thermostat for the girlfriend to replace her ancient Cadet model but found it was unusable as she has a 240V (Single black, single red + ground wire) in-wall electric heater. Are there programmable thermostats for this type of system or do they only make them for low-voltage? If so, which ones would you recommend? I seem to have found a few online (such as the HONEYWELL TL8230A-1003 PROGRAMMABLE BASEBOARD THERMOSTAT) but they inevitably have 4 wires and I'm not sure they would be compatible with my three wire system.

    Thanks.

For an excellent discussion on wiring such thermostats, see https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/electr...ers-50274.html More material at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/heatin...ems-50240.html Disregard the first post and discussion of it. There is no way to keep people from posting bad answers.

You could also use the low voltage thermostat to control a relay like the ones on an A/C.
